Since my last post… I’ve been spending time with my best friend on the coast, I ran that 10k really fast with a time of 51 min. and 10 seconds (and enjoyed it), I’ve spent some quality time with my family in Boise and home, read Arthur Conan Doyle’s A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of Four (both fantastic reads), started a book called The China Study and–hmmm—talked to my friend who joined the United States Marines for the first time in a while, suffered another 10k last Saturday (I don’t know my time for that one), and realized that I am going to be gone without internet connection for the next two weeks and I’d better do some updating… That about covers it. If you want to know details about a certain event above mentioned, feel free to comment and I’m sure I can probably do that (though you may have to be patient). Here are a couple good picture from the coast… Also, I found a really good quote from Sherlock Holmes which is, “I never make exceptions. An exception disproves the rule.” in Chapter 2 of The Sign of Four. He was saying how the most attractive woman he knew was a terrible person and that the most hideous man he knew gave a lot of money to London’s poor. Just goes to show that you really can’t make exceptions to your judgement based on someone’s looks. Someone who isn’t terribly attractive when you first meet them can become more and more pleasant-looking as you find out how kind, thoughtful, and good he is. Whereas some handsome or beautiful people can prove themselves very ugly people by being jerks. Check back in a couple weeks or maybe at the end of this week if I can get internet connection. So long!
Tomorrow I run on the beach for the first time! Please let it not be cold!
This week I’m trying to practice like I should practice and not like I have been. I want to try to get a least a couple hours in every day. We’ll see how that goes. Did pretty well with that today. Fun stuff this week. Spending time with my friend Sammi. She’s amazing and so is her family! and she is into music like me. We take turns practicing during the day. She practices Baritone Saxaphone and Oboe and I just practice flute. Oh, and today I had White Chocolate Raspberry Ice Cream for the first time! Oh how I love Ice Cream!! This is my week to relax, practice, run, read, and go sun seeking.
Today I’m working with my parents as a secretary for a medical office. I really enjoy seeing the people that come in and giving them a friendly smile and direction as to what to do and where to go. I like to be bossy. 🙂 But nice, hopefully. I seem to be pretty good at this kind of work, but I don’t think I want to do it for a living when I get older. Right now I’m just working to save up money for college and an LDS mission. Very rarely do I need to use my own money. yet. I’m very thankful my dad has a good job and can take care of me and my siblings. We do a lot of fun stuff and learn a lot of good things AND we do crazy things. Last Saturday, July 5th, my dad and a friend took off at 1:00 am in the morning on their bikes with the goal in mind to bike 300 miles that day! I woke up later in the morning (6:30) and got myself ready for the day and woke kids up to get ready to go at about 7:00. It took us a couple hours to eat, clean out the car, and pick up some friends from in town to go with us to catch up with Dad and Jason. We got to Boise and since they weren’t ready to be picked up yet, we went to the theatre and watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Rio 2 depending on which one each child picked. Then we had a delicious feast of Taco Bell Bean Burritos (Fresco Style) and went to Savers and D.I. We then went to a park and waited for Dad and Jason to show up. I was about ready to hop in the van and rescue them no matter what they said at that point! Jason was in a funk and couldn’t figure out where we were, so my dad took the phone and we finally got them where they needed to be. We had a lot of fun and I’m glad we could spend that time together. Been writing this in between patients. Better get back to work.
I’ve discover my love of running.. again! I seem to discover it every Summer since three years ago. Thursday I ran 6 miles (a 10k) for a Independence Day Fun-Run and got third place! That was exciting! Then this morning I woke up and wanted to run. So I got my little brother Adam to ride his bike around a ten mile loop and put a water bottle every three miles. It was hot, but I really enjoyed the run. A Belated Happy Independence Day!!
I’m soooo happy to start my Summer! I will miss the Seniors (some of them, anyway), but it’s good to move on. I like change. It keeps me from getting stagnant. It keeps me on my toes! I think I’ll change my desktop background to commemorate the change that continually permeates my life.
The dress rehearsal went well, as well as the performance! I didn’t die or throw-up or anything embarrassing which is great! I was soooo worried, but now that I’ve done it once, I feel it’ll be easier next time. I think maybe I’ll add memorization to some of my practicing techniques. Just because whatever I practice becomes natural–and memorization isn’t one of my strengths yet. I’m going to work on that. I told my teacher about my success and he’s proud of me. I’m glad. He’ll be there at my next performance in November. But I still have a lot of great things to do this Summer. HERE I COME!
